Call of Duty: World at War Zombie Round Start and End Sounds

In Call of Duty: World at War, one of the most iconic and terrifying zombies in the game is the Hellhound. Unlike its previous installments where Flaming Hellhounds only explode when killed, this version's sole attack is to get close to the player and explode. They begin spawning during later rounds or whenever the truth serum is created.

The Hellhound makes a return in Firebase Z as the Flaming variant, and it can be found on specific maps such as Bus Depot, Farm, and Town. In Green Run, players have the ability to turn on/off Hellhound rounds through a Custom Games lobby if they have selected Survival or Grief game mode map.

The electric bolts that appear during a Hellhound round are believed to be linked to the teleporter incident at Der Riese facility. One notable exception is Shi No Numa, where the Max Ammo may not drop from the Hellhound but rather the next zombie the player kills. When the last Hellhound in their special round is killed, it will always drop a Max Ammo power-up.

There are two variants of the Hellhound: the flaming Hellhound, which perpetually remains on fire and explodes on death; and the normal Hellhound, which falls to the ground and does not explode when killed. When they spawn, the ground shakes, and there is a heavy fog covering the map. They randomly appear in packs of two to four throughout the map (indicated by a ball of lightning) every four to five rounds.

Hellhounds' sole objective is to kill the player by attacking with their teeth and claws or exploding after death. These zombie-dogs resemble badly deformed German Shepherds, and they are essentially a mutated version of Samantha's pet, Fluffy. According to lore, Fluffy was put in the Der Riese mainframe teleporter and turned into a deadly Hellhound, which later had puppies, accounting for the rest of the Hellhounds.

Overall, the Hellhound is a formidable and intimidating addition to the Call of Duty: World at War zombie experience. Its ability to explode on death, random spawn points, and pack behavior make it a force to be reckoned with in any zombie round.
